a little bit of...

perspective - on safety

Today I completed a mandatory course at work for health and safety.

Welcome to my second post reader! Is this the topic you expected? If you wonder how we arrived here, well, it was a question of course:

Why do you need to manage Health and Safety in your organisation?

What do you think? Should I have played the game? Deliver the umpteenth version of the same?

This training is mandatory. There is no choice, no agency. An obligation I must complete. A task thrust upon me. My time is not my own.

I have felt this way before.

my little perspective on safety

What is the motivation for this course? Could there be more? Can I make it more?

Crossroads, it is time to choose. Answer the question.

Why do you need to manage Health and Safety in your organisation?

As people we live in our world, we share this space with others. As employees we work in our organisation, we share this space with others.

Culture.

We have an obligation to ourselves and to others—as we journey through our world, our company—to coexist with consideration. With an awareness that our choices, our actions have impact.

To look after another is to look after oneself. When you know you are cared for, that someone has your back, how does that make you feel?

This is the feeling of safety.

Eyes open, look around.

Who makes you feel safe?

Thank you for getting to know—

a little bit of me✌️
